AI Assistant

The AI Assistant is an optional extension: a data assistant that answers questions about your IT costs in plain language, plus more accurate automatic extraction from invoices and contracts. Both are based on Anthropic's Claude API and are purely opt-in — until activated, nothing about Contrixt's behavior changes.

What the assistant can do

Open the assistant via the chat icon (✨) in the bottom right corner of every page in the app to ask questions about your data, for example:

• "What's our open savings potential per month?"
• "Which contracts expire in the next 90 days?"
• "How is our budget currently utilized by category?"

The assistant answers exclusively based on your tenant's current metrics — budgets by category, active contracts including the cancellation radar, license inventory, the savings ledger and the payment forecast. Three example questions appear as chips that pre-fill the input field, but can still be edited before you submit. The assistant is read-only — it never makes any changes to your data.

The chat window can be resized freely using the handle in the top-left corner (the size is remembered for your next session) or maximized with a button. Using the icons in the header you can download the history as a Markdown file or send it by email to your own address — the latter requires a configured email delivery (SMTP).

AI-assisted extraction for invoices and contracts

When the feature is enabled, Contrixt reads uploaded PDF invoices and contracts more accurately: amount, invoice number, date, supplier, and — for contracts — contract number, term, notice period and billing period are recognized, and the form fields are pre-filled automatically (see Invoice inbox and Contracts). You review and confirm the recognized values before saving.

Activation (opt-in)

AI features are disabled by default. An administrator enables them under Administration → Settings → AI features — see Settings. The feature can be turned off again at any time; until activated, the chat icon in the bottom right corner simply shows a notice.

Data privacy

Only the text excerpts needed for the respective task are sent to the Claude API:

• Data assistant: a compact, aggregated snapshot of your tenant's metrics (e.g. budget by category, contract metrics, license utilization) — no personal data about employees or customers.
• Extraction: the text content of the respective uploaded document.

There is no training of AI models on your data. Requests run through a Contrixt-managed platform account for the Anthropic API; no API key of your own is required.
